service projects
Every semester SRISA organizes service projects that allow students to volunteer their time or participate in charitable projects. Students are encouraged to participate in Charity Projects organized by the school though participation is strictly optional. This is an excellent opportunity to get out into the city, meet Florentines, and do something for the community that reflects well on American students.
Past and Future Projects:
FlorencePark Clean-up Projects:
In May 2003,students and professors in courses offered at SRISA by BrighamYoungUniversity, "adopted" the beautiful Piazza d'Azeglio and spent severalhours cleaning, trimming, and planting over 100 geraniums in a flower bed they created.
In Fall of 2003 SRISA students "adopted" the Piazza dell' Indipendenza" by giving the city park a real cleanup. Residents and passersby were eager to know about this group of young Americans who wanted to give something back to the city of Florence by putting in a few hours of "service"
The idea was so successful that the school has now incorporated some service activities into the regular semester

Unicef Christmas Card Project:
For the last three years at Christmas-time, SRISA students have
made Christmas Cards that were sold to benefit UNICEF.These cards are
hand printed original linoleum and woodcut prints. The greetings are
hand printed on SRISA letterpress and students help UNICEF staff sell
these cards. All proceeds go to UNICEF.

Pigotta Unicef Doll project:
This year SRISA students participated in the Pigotta Unicef Project by helping the UNICEF staff sell handmade dolls to help vaccinate children from around the world.
Why Unicef? Unicef is neither a political nor a religious organization, whose mission is to benefit children all over the world.
