OBTAINING A VISA

If you are enrolled in a semester long program at Santa Reparata you will need to obtain a student visa for Italy. This is not necessary for a one-month stay.You will need to contact the Italian Consulate General that serves the region in which you live. Every consulate has specific rules and regulations regarding their visas, you MUST contact your specified consulate. For example, if you live in New Hampshire do not gather your materials from the Consulate General of Miami's list, go to the Italian Consulate General of Boston. The Consulates are very strict and extremely bureaucratic. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING REQUESTED PLUS PHOTOCOPIES.

PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS:

Your passport has to be valid at least 3 months beyond the date the VISA is requested for (3 months beyond the date you return to the United States).

PROCESSING TIME:

The average processing time for visas is 2 to 15 days. Rush processing is not possible.

Applications cannot be accepted if presented earlier than 90 days (calendar) from the departure date.

MINOR APPLICANTS:

For minor applicants, the following certification is needed:

• Authorization to travel signed by both parents. Parents can either appear in person in front of the VISA Attache' or send a notarized consent.
• Birth certificate, original or a notarized copy;
• Notarized copies of both parents' picture I.D.
• All foreign documents MUST be translated into English and the translations legalized by the competent Consulate.
